LET THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!
Recently, I was skiing in Colorado and had a breakthrough.
I was actually able to ski down a steep slope without pulling back in fear. Yes, it took courage to put my poles out in front of me, to shift my weight forward and let my skis do the work. But to my surprise and delight - they actually did.
I could feel my body moving in a rhythm and tempo never possible before when I was "trying too hard" to control my turns. It was a new experience. It felt like I was flying through the snow. Of course, I first needed to initiate the acceleration. Then I was able to catch the movement of centrifugal force. It's as though some unknown power was turning me. I felt secure. I was "in the zone."
Does this sound familiar? Whether you ski or not, do you know the difference between "letting" your club do the work and "trying" to control it?
If you're trying to make it happen, you're using the effort of your Conscious thoughts and not allowing your Subconscious Mind and body take over.
Just as I had a breakthrough with my fear on the ski slopes, so can you have a breakthrough on the golf course. The principle is the same - even though skiing is a continuum of movement while golf is one shot at a time.

Your Subconscious Mind is always eavesdropping on your thoughts. You don't want it to be persuaded that you're a terrible golfer and shouldn't be playing this game, do you?
Learn to "Own The Zone"
|
Build confidence and courage into your pre-shot routine. Get into a hypnotic gaze with your target - as if you're becoming one with it. You'll be creating a neural pathway with your eyes. Trust that your Subconscious Mind and body are ready to do their job. Step up to your ball. Take one last gaze at your target. Initiate your swing and then let that "unknown force" do the rest. It will accelerate through the shot - with just the right tempo - as your whole body complies.
That "unknown force" is within you, waiting to be harnessed. Let it move through you as you take each shot. Get out of its way. The Zone exists when you play effortless golf. Once you get this feeling, you'll be able to find it again and again and for longer and longer periods of time.
Let the Force be with you!
